About TheWorld Race:
The World Race is a program of the inter-denominational organization Adventures in Missions that has been around since 1989. The program is an eleven month-long journey that goes into eleven different countries around the world. There are routes of fifty to sixty participants that are sent out to present the Gospel on various dates throughout the year. The route that my service and knowledge would be reaching leaves July 13, 2011 and is traveling to the countries of Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Swaziland, Mozambique, South Africa, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and two countries in Eastern Europe. The types of ministries that we will be doing varies from day-to-day and month-to-month, but include manual labor, preaching, orphanages, aiding in slavery and prostitution, underground churches, and much more.

Why I Chose the World Race:
Last year (March 2010) God kept speaking to me Matthew 28:19-20, otherwise known as the Great Commission. We, as Christians, are called to make disciples of every nation. I was projecting toward my future in a big city to fulfill this calling, because there are just as many people needing the knowledge of the Gospel in the U.S. as other parts of the world. However, I began to research optional mission trips and one in particular stuck out to me the most: The World Race. It appealed to me because I really wanted to travel and see the world, but I also wanted to give back and experience God unlike any other way!
Since I had been of the "American mindset" of being successful right out of college and gaining tangible items and status, God quickly revealed to me that there was so much more to life than just that perspective. I wanted to gain a broader perspective on life and gain a better understanding of the God whom I serve.
