It's a NEW YEAR…2012!

"Not that I have already obtained all this, or have been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers (and sisters), I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."  -Phillipians 3:12-14

Paul's words encourage us to forget the past…
Dwelling on past regrets could bring us down.
Reflecting on past achievements could make us feel unworthy.

and to focus on the journey ahead!

It's exciting to know that everyday is new with Jesus Christ!
It's comforting to know that God will NOT fail us…yesterday, today, and TOMORROW!
It's not possible to look back without missing the future that's right in front of you!

Naturally I think about all of this as I'm preparing to leave for 11 months…for this incredible, difficult, life-changing journey with God. It's time to FORGET about who I was and FOCUS on who God wants me to become!

I encourage you all to do this as well. You may not be traveling the world, but God has great plans for you right where you are and He wants you to become greater in 2012!

Forgetting about the past is not always easy, and sometimes impossible, but the way we handle those memories, determines the impact they will have on our lives. If you know Paul's life story…think about this…his circumstances never conquered or defeated him

To wrap it all up…
One of my dad's favorite movie scenes is from THE GUMBALL RALLY. It's a movie from 1976 about a group of drivers who take part in a secret and illegal cross country road race.

The driver's line is:
"Now, the first rule of Italian driving…WHAT'S BEHIND ME IS NOT IMPORTANT!"

Happy New Year to you all! I pray that this year is one of many blessings and adventures! 😀
