Well here I sit in the lodge of our Louisiana District campground, thinking about the busy summer I've had so far…
- Lead Youth services and activities on Wednesday and Sunday nights
- Nazarene Youth Conference (NYC) in Louisville, KY with 6,000 teens from all over North America
- Project Southern Hospitality (PSH) – a mission week in Lake Charles – with youth groups from Louisiana, Alabama, Oklahoma.
- Sing in the worship band for Louisiana Teen Camp
Every single one of these events have been fun, exhausting, and full of the Holy Spirit.
I believe now (after being reminded quite a few times) that God prepares us for the "what's next" in our lives. Even though I didn't always understand why I was in a certain situation or why circumstances turned out to be a certain way, I realized later that I learned so much more than I could have expected. Through all of the organizing of events and running on minimal sleep…I believe He has been preparing me for the World Race. I am physically tired, but my Spirit is full of energy…WOOHOO!!!
JESUS IS COOL! It's the theme of Teen Camp. Well technically the theme is Chasing Cool, but I'm chasing Jesus because I think He's the coolest person out there! He has been by my side all summer…walking, running, playing games, swimming, eating, washing dishes, sorting food, sleeping, dancing, singing, laughing, crying, etc….
Things I learned/witnessed during our Mission Week (PSH):
- I waste a lot of food (the ministry we worked with this week saved as much food as possible: what they didn't need for the day, they sent to people all over Lake Charles and if it was bad, it went to the pigs)
- God is answering prayers in big and small ways
- You can be a missionary anywhere and anytime
- Stress is the devil attempting to make you feel defeated
- When God calls…you should answer…He's calling you to do something greater than you could ever imagine
So in conclusion:God is great and Jesus is cool! 😀
