A thirtieth birthday signifies a landmark in life. I have
now lived through three decades including the 80’s (neon and punk rock), the
90’s (90210 and the band Jars of Clay) and now the millennium (Internet and I
phones). My team decided for my “30th” birthday to tell me 30
reasons they love me, so in no particular order, enjoy the insight of my team
regarding, well, me:
- Your
boldness
- The
way you are interested in every individual - Getting
“drunk” ON LAUGHTER together (remember the days Jen?) - Your million
and one life stories - Your
independent spirit!! - The
way you have a different tone of voice to greet people - Your
free trade business mind - The
example you are as a wife to us singles - The
way you kick butt at settlers - Your
honesty & openness - The
way you are with children - Your
obsession with food - Your
adventurous spirit and willingness to try new things - ALL of
your questions
Your
funky clothing style- Your
excitement in learning new skills - How
you make each new place a home - You’re
stunning inside and out - Your
passion for the Lord - Your
compassion - Your
faith in our God - You
seek after righteousness - Your
100% sheer awesomeness - Your
vision and focus - Your
attention to details - Your
commitment and dedication - The
way you lead this team - Your
ability to laugh it off - You’re
real - Your
silly side
My day in a nutshell was filled
with cards (yes, one given to me every hour on the HALF an hour starting at
7:30 AM). Ienjoyed reading the
many cards from YOU back at home (close to 30 I believe), whether it was from
my teammates in China, best friends, amazing family members or my Dad’s (and
subsequently Mike & Patti’s) playful music cards, I felt the love from
home. Thank you for thinking of me two months in advance to send your
wishes—they are now hanging all over my bedroom in the soon to be Children’s
Village (aka orphanage). If you
missed the card deadline, it is not too late, as there will be another card
delivery taking place at the end of June (July 14th-2 year
anniversary), then September (Sept. 16th-Dave’s b-day) and finally
November. You can send them at the beginning of those months to
