One of the great things about participating in the race is the fact that it makes me get off of my lazy bum. We are asked to physically prepare ourselves for the mission field. While on our trip there will be many times where we will walk for long periods of time with our pack on our back. We are asked to begin physical training with running and with walking around with our pack full. I have randomly been training and trying to get into shape.
Then my work, American Girl Place Los Angeles, was looking for volunteers to run in a 5k. I figured this was a good time to push myself a little bit.
Here I am at the start of the race. I was a great experience. Girls on the run is an organization that works with young girls and teaches the the value of self esteem by helping them train for a 5k. We were instructed not to beat the girls, which wasn’t a problem for me. My goal was just not to stop running. I wanted to see how far I could go.

Well, I did it! I finished the race and got my completion medal. Even better, I ran 3.5 miles in just 31 minutes. Way to go me! I think the cold weather helped to spur me on. I just put my iPod on worship songs and ran along the beach. It was a great time of worship and much better then running on a treadmill
