Dear Future World Racer,
I recently returned home from training camp and I can not even believe how my expectations were completely blown! Granted, the only thing I did expect from the week was that I would cry and starve so it could only get better. However, I really shouldn’t have had any expectations. As you will soon learn, you should not have ANY expectations when it comes to anything World Race. As I reflect back on my experiences at training camp, I have
one word of wisdom for you. TRUST.
TRUST the fact that you will meet ridiculously amazing
people. You will have a constant feeling of being at summer camp and you’ll start to
feel sad because your experience is only a week long and then you’ll remember
that you get to spend 11 months with your new family. This is only part of my new fam.

TRUST that weird will become your new normal (for example see “breakfast” below). The sooner you
accept that, the better.
TRUST that the trainers, AIM staff, and everyone else at
camp to support you knows what they’re doing. AIM staff will pray over each
person and squad and they want what God wants for you. This may not be what you
want for you, what you expected, or it might be, but TRUST that it’s what’s best for you. God gave me this ridiculously AMAZING team, Team Tikkun Olam.

TRUST that your week at camp will involve limited showering,
long nights, appreciation of the small things (like white bread), big surprises, interesting tastes, strange smells (don’t be
surprised if it’s you), brokenness, encounters with the Creator, and a filling
up from the Holy Spirit.
Lastly, TRUST that God is preparing YOU for YOUR journey. It may look differently than how everyone else is being prepared, but TRUST that you have your own path to travel. TRUST that God knows what He’s doing.
Training camp will be one of the most difficult, yet most
exciting weeks of your life.
TRUST me.
Lindsay
