That was the title of my original post that I wrote out the day we got here. It said:
We´re here!
The mountains look like the ones you see on computer backgrounds. We walked out of the airport and Justin said, “It looks so fake, but it´s real!” It´s awesome.
We have a house to stay in. It doesn´t really have heat, but we have beds and a kitchen and hot showers and real toilets.
Altitude sickness and asthma are not a fun combination
Derek gave us cooking oil to drink(in his defense, the bottle did say “pear juice” on the label)
We´ve done pretty much nothing but sleep
And we don´t exactly know what we´re doing for ministry.
So yeah, nothing very exciting has happened yet. But I wanted to post something in case people were waiting to hear from me.
Nothing very exciting? I spoke too soon.
In the 48 hours after I wrote that post in my notebook:
Rachel got sick and went to the hospital,
Sarah and Ash almost burnt the house down,
we got to witness Bolivia´s independence day parade right outside Rachel´s room,
Justin spent a couple hours in a van by himself,
and we learned that tomato paste has tuna in it here.
Now it´s been five days. Not every day has been as chaotic as the first one and a half.
Rachel is better.
My lungs hate it here, but they´ll get over it.
I LOVE my team.
Our ministry is with two different homes for teenagers, one for girls and one for boys. Every day me and the other three girls on our team go to the girls´house and our three guys go to the boys. There are ten girls in the house and I love every one of them already.
People don´t speak English much at all here, but no one seems to mind. We´ve had so much fun with them even though we can´t understand a word each other says.
This Saturday when I get internet again I´ll write a much more coherent post; right now I´m just spitting out thoughts so you can have some idea of what´s going on with me.
Pray for all of us that we won´t get sick anymore!
