…but really. That's it.
Over the past eight months, I've learned a lot about the idea of "just love God and love people."
That sounds so simple at first; maybe too simple. But it turns out that's the point.
When you aren't sure where you're going in life, simplify it. Just love.
Love God. Spend extra time with him. More time in the word, more time just being still and knowing him.
Love people. Look for the little things you can do and say.
And as you're focusing on simply loving, it starts becoming clear what God wants you to do next. For two reasons.
1. The more you're loving God, the more you get to know him, and the more you know him, the easier and more natural it is to see things through his eyes and know what his will is.
2. God made us to love, and he made each of us to do it in a unique way. The more you love people, the more you find out how you're best at loving them.
I don't know what I want to be when I grow up. I don't know what I'm going to do after the Race. But I'm not worried about it.
I'm going to love people for eleven months. So many people in so many ways.
I'll love the people we're serving, whether it's by teaching them English or building them a house or taking care of them when they're sick or just giving them a hug, or so many other ways I can't even list them all.
I'll love my squad and teammates; praying with them, rejoicing through their joys and hugging them through their struggles, laughing with them, crying with them, just living life with them. I don't even know any of them and I already can't wait to love them.
Sometimes it'll be easy. Sometimes it'll be hard. Sometimes it'll be really really hard. But either way, it's enough. It's all we need. It's why we're here.
Let us love like we were children
Make us feel like we're still living
In a world I know that's burning to the ground.~NeedToBreathe
