1. Bunk beds. They make it feel like camp.
2. Being with our whole squad. At the end of last month I was sad to have to share my team with 40 other people, but then we got here and I remembered how much I love those 40 people.
3. Our contacts, who speak ENGLISH.
4. Market potato chips. They taste even better than the kettle cooked ones that my grandma likes so much.
5. The weather. I have yet to have a day that’s been unbearably hot(although I love heat so much it’s hard to get me to complain), and it was only miserably cold a few days this week(and unlike Bolivia where we could see our breath in our bedrooms, here it’s only cold outside. If i can’t deal with it, I can go in any building and get warm).
6. Our roof. We can see the mountains from one side and the beach from the other.
7. Inca Kola. It tastes like cream soda and bubble gum, which sounds weird when I write it but it’s delicious and I’m going to cry when we leave South America and don’t have it anymore.
8. The mall. If we ever get crazy homesick, we have a place to go where we can feel like we’re in America for a couple hours.
9. Having variety in our ministry. Last month I got a little stir crazy doing the same thing all day every day, but here we do different things every week. We did a VBS last week, this week we’re painting the school where we’re staying and helping teach some of their classes, next week we’ll do something new. It’s perfect for me.
10. The little kids. They make me smile so much and they love hugs as much as I do. My favorite is small enough to fit in my pack so I’ll probably take her home with me. My mom won’t mind.
11. My Jesus time has been so much better every day. Last month I was so busy complaining that I forgot to just be with him; this month we’re friends again. I shouldn’t be surprised that it makes all the difference in the world.
