1. Snow-capped mountains like you’d see on a calendar, right up in our face.
2. Soup every day for lunch. Even though it makes me miss home.
3. Our house. Sure we don’t have heat and it takes 4 days for our clothes to dry, but sharing a room with Rachel and Ash beats being alone in my tent any day. Plus we have BEDS. Real beds. We’re totally blessed this month.
4. Brushing our teeth in the kitchen together every night.
5. Frac. 😉
6. Watching Spanish soap operas and having the guys “translate”
7. The best eggs I’ve ever tasted. Did you know the yolks are supposed to be orange? They’re yellow in Ameroca because we don’t get them fresh enough.
8. The girls at Adulam. They don’t care that we can barely understand each other, they’re still so happy to see us every day and I love them more with every little conversation we’re able to piece together.
9. We only have one mirror in our whole house, and I’m barely tall enough to see it, so I go days without knowing what I look like and I love not worrying about it.
10. My team. I wake up every morning so excited to see them. We work together perfectly, we make everything fun, we play hours of cards every day, and we laugh more in a day than normal people do in a month.
11. Knowing that this is exactly where God wants us. I’ve complained to him so much since the minute we got here; I’m cold. I’m hungry. My head hurts. I can’t breathe. I don’t know what anybody’s saying. But every time I start to ask him what in the world I’m doing here, he reminds me that he has a plan. He’s working through us even when we can’t see it.
And so my heart is totally happy even though my lungs hate it here. 🙂
