“Christ has set us free to live a free life, so take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on you.”

During training camp I got a prophecy key that said “LIVE” on it. I was really confused why my key said live until I hit the end of month 3. During my month of Malaysia the Lord taught me the importance of keeping my eyes on him, because the moment I decided to look at the situations around me, they take over. As long as I keep my eyes on him, I can go live freely and carefree.

It was a hard lesson learned, with a lot of frustration and learning how to let go of things that were out of my control. The moment we hit Malaysia, it seemed as if everything just fell apart. All of us girls got lice, then spent hours checking each other. Then my teams ministries got canceled which led to us running around to figure out what we were going to do. In the midst of this, I felt like I had to fix everything and make everything fit together. You can’t openly evangelize in a closed country, and jumping in with other teams had us having too many people at one ministry site. Our team was left with very few ministry opportunities. I use to think that my least favorite country was Malaysia, but as more and more people ask me what’s your favorite lesson you’ve learned on the race is, I’ve learned that it’s the lesson I learned in Malaysia. All the Lord calls us to be is his hands and feet anywhere we are. He calls us to be a reflection of him in everything we do and through that people will wonder whats different about us. He calls us to just live. It took a month of me being on that island to learn this lesson, but its been the most freeing lesson I’ve learned on this race.

The idea of the prophecy keys are that once you’ve learned the meaning the Lord has for you, you pass it on to someone else and let the Lord work in their lives. In Costa Rica, I met a volunteer from Honduras who would always comment on how much he loved my key. I always said thank you and didn’t really think anything of it until the final day I was there. As I went up to get my food one day he told me again about how much he loved my key and how he would love to have one. That’s when it hit me. I was was suppose to give my key to him. So I took it off my neck and handed it to him and told him he could keep it. I’m not sure what lesson the Lord has for him through the key, but I hope it gives him just as much freedom as it gave me.

Sincerely,
