Dear Future Racer

If you are reading this blog to understand or find out information about training camp, I am telling you now, STOP LOOKING. This is the only blog you will need.

You got to understand, I am a planner. Like journals, colorful pens, and closet doors that are calendars. (No joke….I used chalkboard paint for my closet doors and they are literally calendars.). Planning for training camp was the worst thing in the world for me because everything I read…..I mean EVERYTHING was really vague. Well, you probably know what I am talking about because you are here reading this blog. So, coming from one avid planner to another you will want to have the full experience of training camp. I now understand coming back why everyone is so vague. So, I will allow you the pleasure of having the entire experience by not telling you everything. However, I do have a list of things that I promise you will help. I would never ever tell any racer to leave without this list.

So, here is a list of everything you need to know:

1) Don’t bring snacks.

2) You will be pushed out of your comfort zone. Let yourself grow. Don’t resist it.

3) Be ready to share everything. Community living is the only way you will survive.

4) Don’t stress about not having something. Someone else will have it.

5) Embrace diversity. Everyone on your squad and your team will be different.

6) You are about to meet a family you never knew you needed.

7) Your mind will be blown into a million pieces.

8) Have an open mind. Be ready to learn.

9) Have a Yes in your spirit, soul, and mind.

10) TRUST THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU!

11) Practice for the hike. It’s not easy

12) BRING A DAY PACK!!! I REPEAT, BRING A DAY PACK!

13) Try everything. Just try everything once.

14) Bring Wipes….Don’t think about it. Just bring them

15) Bring at least 2 bottles of hand sanitizer you will need it.

16) Get packing cubes, especially the ones that compress

17) GET EXCITED!!!! THE RACE IS GETTING REAL!

Sincerely,

a Racer who just came back from Training Camp
