Hey guys!
I wanted to give you all the perspective of a racers mind as we take on day to day life. Honestly I can’t believe I’m already in month 3 everything is going by so fast. My first week here in Malaysia I had to opportunity to live at a village in the jungle. Here is that experience:
Month 3 Week 1…Penang, Malaysia
Day 1:
Wake up, pack, grab 4 days worth of food. Pack one liter of water. Excited, scared, not sure what to be prepared for. Ahhh….don’t forget toilet paper, you will need that. I’m going to a village what do I need? *blink*i n a car ready to go toward a jungle. Bye bed. Bye shower…I’ll miss you. *blink* I’m in a canoe? What? How secluded is this? attempts to pick up pack from canoe. Im trying to remember why we need so many cans of food. I can not eat. At least my pack would be lighter *blink* sets up tent. Wow, I’m really in the middle of no where. Still excited, still scared, not sure what to expect, maybe tomorrow will make sense. Why is there a rooster on the outside of my tent?….it’s night time already?….what did I do? Why is this going so fast?…..sleeps.
Day 2:
Wakes up at 3:30 a.m… why is that stupid rooster crowing? What time is it? wakes up at 4:00 am….that rooster is crowing again? it’s going to be me, I’m going to ring it’s neck. scraping cement with a shovel. This is fun, it’s hot but I like manual labor *blinks*carrying bricks up a hill *blinks* excited, I can’t believe we are leaving soon *blink* church, singing, forming banana, forming orange, what the heck?? *blink*
Day 3
*hears rooster….again* That dang rooster is going to die today I swear….Oh no oh no….it’s my last day here. Pay attention lilly soak it all in. Don’t get distracted. *blink* what is that crashing? Elephants? That’s what elephants sound like? Woah *blink* I got so many bug bites they all itch….oh my, my head itches am I going to get lice? Do I already have lice? Help….*blink* we are driving in the middle of nowhere….that’s a turkey…chicken…animals ….what is this. *blinks* house one, pray, Bible, pray, verse, encourage, sing, eat *blink* house 4, women, strong, leaders, warriors, they will bring up the future, more encouragement, words, pray, song *blink* fish, shrimp, intestines, eat *blink* its dark…it’s quiet…almost silent. It’s over?
Day 4:
THAT DANG ROOSTER AGAIN….*blink* in a canoe going back home, wait no, the hostel, why do I call everything home? *blink* checking everyone’s hair for lice *blink* coffee in a bag where do I find this? *blink* in a car driving *blink* at hostel again. Home. I think. Lice, we all have lice…..*blink*
So, there you have it. A racers brain. At least this racers brain.
Despite me being on the field I am not yet fully funded. I know the Lord is going to provide at the end of the day and I am excited to see how he will do that. I have $255 left to fundraise (if 13 people donated $20 I’d be fully funded). I also want to thank everyone who has supported me thus far in my race. It has and definitely will continue to be such a great and amazing growing experience. I love you all and miss you so so much!!!!
