I have spent about a month in Ecuador now and want to give you all a small bit of what life looks like on the field.

7:00 am- Wake up and shower

     – If you’re lucky your shower will be nice and warm.

7:30 am- Devo time in the living room

     – This is not mandatory, but an open invite for you to be able to have some Jesus time with the rest of the squad

8:00-8:30 am- Breakfast

     – In Ecuador breakfast tends to be a piece of fruit and some type of tea.

8:30-9:06 am- Walking to Ministry

     – I am currently working at a place called Camp Hope in Quito, Ecuador. It is a half hour walk from our current base. So each morning I walk about 2 miles to ministry.

9:06-12:00 pm- Working with the kids
     – The kids I work with have Cerebral Palsy. With my particular group, most of the children are not very mobile or able to speak. So we do reflex and sensory therapy with them. This includes stretching out their limbs for them, exposing them to new textures, and making them grasp at different toys and other things.

12:00-12:30pm- Lunch

     – We usually eat a sandwich with chips and some type of fruit

12:30-1:40pm- Feed the Kids

     – After our lunch we put our kids in their wheelchairs and help feed them until they are all fed.

1:40-2:10- Hygienic stuff

     – After lunch we brush all the kids teeth and change their diapers. As well as change any clothes that the kids soiled.

2:10-2:50pm – Working with the Kids

     –  We do some more reflex and sensory therapy with the kids that are still awake.

2:50-3:20pm – Walk back to the base

     – We walk 2 mies back to our base and grab any food that we need throughout the week.

3:20-7:00pm – Hangout with the squad, nap, shower, etc…

     – Usually I personally shower and ask everyone how their ministry went.

7:00-7:45pm- DINNER!!!

     – Dinner is usually sometime of soup. Somedays its rice or pasta, but it’s usually pasta.

7:45- 10:00pm – Team times, hangout, chores, really whatever

     – During this time frame you will find a lot of us watching a show or playing sometime of card game. At 10:00pm is lights out so most of us are asleep by then.

I have really been loving it here in Ecuador and I cannot wait to see everything the Lord has for me here.

Sincerely,

Lillian Son
