Hola from Costa Rica!
I have been on the field for almost two weeks now…crazy! I figured I would write a quick update blog about life here and what I’ve been doing.
I live at the Adventures in Missions base here in Curridabat, a town outside of San Jose. My entire squad of 53 people lives in one house, so its pretty much a party all the time. We are the first squad to ever stay here!!! I have really loved getting to eat breakfast and dinner with my squad each day, its a blast. I share a room with 7 other girls which feels a little like summer camp because of the bunk beds and little storage space. I don’t think it has set in yet that I live here. Im not on vacation or visiting for a few weeks; I live in costa rica… so weird. Another weird thing is I am about a 5 minute walk from Starbucks, Walmart, and tons of yummy restaurants. I’m loving that aspect of life here because back at home I didn’t live within 5 minutes of anything!
So for the first 3 weeks my team has two different ministries we work with. The first is a daycare with the cutest little babies and toddlers in the world. I get to play with them and help wash dishes after lunch. The second ministry is a school/childcare service for kids ages 1 to 9. My normal day there looks like playing tag, singing silly songs, and pretty much doing whatever else the principal asks us to do. The other day she had us glue small pieces of paper all over a wooden box to make it more “resistant”. I was convinced we were misunderstanding her instructions because she doesn’t speak much English, but nope. So for 8 hours total, I paper mached boxes. It was a great time. My teammates have all written some really in depth blogs about our ministries that I encourage you to read if you are interested in knowing more of what I am doing here. And of course, always feel free to leave comments if you have any questions about my life.
The first few weeks of the race I would have to give a 10/10. Of course I already miss my people back home, and the beach, but I know I’m right where I need to be. I am so expectant of great things to come here in Costa Rica. Thank you to everyone who has supported me in this journey, I am getting so close to being fully funded! That’s about it, enjoy the pictures 🙂
