So I had the privilege of teaching a 15min. Sunday service. I spoke about Patience and Endurance. I want to share with you what the Lord had been speaking to me…
The Lord has continued to speak to me about Worship and through that he led me to understanding and desiring the characteristics of Christ. One of those characteristics is Patience.
There were a few verses the Lord took me to, but the main one was James 5:7-11 Patience in Suffering. Here the Lord broke it down verse by verse while I was sitting during Sunday worship.
Verse 7 talks about the farmer, farming takes work. You put in a lot of man hours and then you believe you did everything right and that what you worked for will bring fruit.
Verse 8/9 is about grumbling. Really grumbling to your neighbor is hurting you and them. You hurt yourself because once you allow those thoughts to enter, they begin to breed and eventually you don’t endure your trial. When you talk to somebody else, you are also infecting them. Instead of being an example and encouraging you are showing them the wrong way to act and when their trial comes, it could be a stumbling block.
Verse 10/11 is about enduring like Job and the prophets. It was good to recall the story of a man of God who did not give in and curse God. He was put through the fire and endured. He was also rewarded for enduring. The Lord blesses our patience. But that should not be our main reason. We endure so that we can be more like Christ.
I hope this speaks to you the way it spoke to me…
Finance Update: I have about $3,010 to raise by December 15th (this is the last deadline!!!). I have about $360 pledged to come in through monthly supporters, meaning I only need about $2,650. If you feel led to give, please do so on the left-hand side. Thank you to everyone who has given thus far, more importantly I give thanks to God. He has miraculously provided and I take no credit in it. 🙂
