The first week in Ukraine has been a bit boring. We didn’t have a lot to do as far as ministry besides praying for the camp starting in a few days.
Two of our teammates felt lead to communicate with the women that they are beautiful and that God loves them. We asked Masha (an amazing Ukrainian woman who gave up her day to tour a bunch of missionaries) if she could transcribe the words in Ukrainian. We copied them down on little post-it sized sheets and wrote about 80 of them. We bought a bunch of flowers from the flower market area and just handed a flower and a note to the women that walked through the city center.
Some women did not want them, some thought we were selling flowers, but a lot of them smiled and said thank you. A lot of the women would hover or come by us to see what we had. We gave them out soo quickly we had to write out more notes and buy more flowers. The smiles on the faces of the women meant a lot. We cant really communicate with the people here but God isn’t held back by language or any other type of barrier.
Later in the day we went to the house of an American Missionary. She has been working in the Ukraine for about 5 years and we went to visit her through Masha. She was soo happy to see us. She made us feel very welcome in her home and just a perfect ending to the day. We gave her the flowers we had left over from earlier in the day. She seemed to glow. It hard when you are in a different country with vastly different cultures and social norms especially when your team isn’t with you. I ask that you pray for Laura as she continues to listen to God and his desires that she finds peace and love in every situation she is in.
