“I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.”

Because His love IS better than life my lips will glorify Him! What a promise! Because of His love, He will give me the desire to glorify Him even when I don’t feel like it. I serve the most loving, faithful God who is willing to give me good desires and a pure heart even when I am faithless. He is my heavenly Father and provides lavishly for me in the big things that the world sees and in the little things that only my heart knows. Right now I am sitting in a coffee shop, having finished a long stretch of homework and almost laughing at the thought that as I sit here, Jesus is literally here and He loves me SO MUCH! He is REAL and ALIVE and He SAVES. This is joy beyond expression and it is what satisfies every longing of the heart. This, this soul-filling, life giving, freedom bringing salvation, is what I want to carry with me wherever I go, be it as I walk to my car out of this coffee shop or as I get off the plane in Ethiopia.
I realized that I haven’t said very much about myself and so I wanted to give you a snapshot into who I am, but I just had to take a moment to worship Jesus because He is vastly more interesting and wonderful than me or anyone else in this world. So, five fun facts (the English major in me just got a little excited about that alliteration) about me:
1) I love climbing trees. It is important to note here that loving something does not equal having a talent for said thing. It takes me a long time to actually get up in the tree (I koala bear my way up actually and there is a lot of hesitation and nervous exclamations involved) , but once I am there I love it! It feels like I am sitting in God’s lap and up in a tree I feel more freedom to just ramble out loud to the Lord. Also, It is beautiful…
2) Which leads really well to this next fun fact: I love beautiful things! This seems like kind of a no brainer, “yes, Lila, everyone likes beautiful things.” But, what I mean is that I love discovering beauty where people do not stop to notice it. If I am walking down a sidewalk, and the shadows hit the pavement in a beautiful way, I almost have to stop walking. Jesus is beautiful and He makes beautiful things! (I think I could write a whole blog about this)
3) I have three sisters and I am the second oldest(Caitlin, Adeline and Sophia are their names). Yes, that’s right three sisters and no brothers. I feel like a lot about my personality could be contributed to this fact, but I couldn’t tell you exactly what. so I will let you draw what conclusions you will and correct you if I feel like said conclusions might be wrong:)
4) Oh here is a fun fact: My favorite three colors are pink, green and yellow. I have a really hard time picking favorites, so I have successfully narrowed it down to these three. I love green because there are so many shades and it is such an alive color. I love the joy in yellow and the beauty in pink.
