Hi! My names is Liesl. I am 27 years old, and I am from good old North Dakota. Despite my great dream to move somewhere warmer, I still live in The Peace Garden State, where our high temperature was -18* F this last week. I love you, too, NoDak. 😉
I come from a family of six. I have two older sisters and one older brother. I am the happy owner of a nine-month-old, calico kitten, named Reba. She currently lives with me and my parents. Yep, as of May, I moved home with my parents, as a way to make me more readily able to go where God called me next.
This leads me to why you are probably reading this. “Liesl – Wait. What are you doing?” I, my friends, am leaving the country in August 2019 for The World Race. The World Race is an 11-month mission trip that goes to 11 countries, across the globe, and shares the love of Jesus with the people in the ways they need it most. We will be partnering with churches and local ministries to reach the people in these countries.
My team will be going to: South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina.
I am beyond excited about this opportunity. For some of you, this might come as a shock. You may have had no idea that mission work was something I had interest in. For others, this is no surprise. If you are my sister, Heidi, you have almost been numbering the days until I would “run away and leave her for Africa.” The truth is that this has been something I have been hoping and praying for the last eight years. It wasn’t until this past year that God started to pull the dream off of the back shelf and back into focus. (my first post will tell you more about this story)
I have a lot to do in the next six months, and I could really use your support. I have funds to raise, gear to purchase, immunizations to obtain, packing to do, and my job to tell. If you are a praying person, I would covet your prayers! If you want to give to my trip, to help make it possible, please click on the orange “donate” button above or ask me how else you can go about it. Lastly, if you just want to give me a hug, and tell me that you love me and/or are proud of me, that would be huge!
I will be posting updates in here as I raise support and prep for August. After my team and I deploy, I will be using this same blog to tell you about my journey, and what God is doing in my life, and in the lives of the people I minster with/to. I really hope you check back! I’m freaking out. Are you freaking out? LOL! This going to be wild, in the best of ways. Now hit me with questions. 🙂
With love,
Liesl
