Hello Everyone!! Long time no blog on the good old WR blog. Some of you may or may not know, but this summer I have the opportunity to lead an ambassador trip to Ethiopia through Adventures In Missions!! I wanted to take some time to explain why I am so excited about this summer leading.
One of my favorite quotes over the last year has been “Be who you needed when you were younger.” This is a side note, but I always found it funny that I read that scrolling through Facebook.
I’ll be honest with y’all when saying high school was not the best time for me. It was a time of feeling lonely, anxious, confused, and many other emotions teens have during these four years. I always wish I had someone who knew me and would be there for me when life got rough and when life was good.
Now being older and out of high school I realize that I’m not the only one who felt this in high school. That there are many others who needed someone to care for them and be there for them. This is what sparked my desire and passion for high school students. In any way possible I want to be there for the students who need someone.
When being accepted to lead this summer I expressed interest in leading the trip to Ethiopia. Ethiopia has been on my heart ever since having a short layover in the Addis Ababa airport during gap year. I remember looking out over the city and having such an intrigue and curiosity to explore, I also had a feeling that one day I would be back. And I can hardly contain my excitement knowing this is true.
I also expressed interest in going to Ethiopia because I wanted to head back to Africa. I ended gap year in Botswana and have always had this feeling that I didn’t end well. I was tired, ready to be home, and wanted to be with family and friends. Honesty, ever since coming home I have regretted how I spent my time in Botswana and have felt guilt over the many missed ministry opportunities.
This trip is so much more than a new adventure to me. It is a chance to live out my favorite quote and to pour into these girls. To be there for them, to celebrate, and to empathize alongside them. To see these girls grow, face their fears, and find their passions. It is a time to pour into the next wave of leaders.
This trip is redemption. A time to pour everything out that I have for the people we encounter in Ethiopia, to serve selflessly, and to encounter Jesus is many new exciting ways.
In order for me to go and serve this summer I have to raise $2,497 before I leave on June 22nd. So far I have raised $165 and I am so grateful to everyone who has donated towards my trip. Because of y’all I get the chance to serve and pour into others. If you feel lead to donate you can go through this link
