Dear
Friends and Family,
Greetings
to each of you and I hope this letter finds you well. I would like to share with you about what has been going in
my life since I graduated from Oral Roberts University this December. Since I have returned home, God has
been working in my life in unimaginable ways. Many of you know that through ORU I was able to travel to
Ukraine for a month-long mission trip.
I was also blessed to be able to volunteer through the ORU missions
program at Mercy Ministries in Nashville, Tennessee last spring break.
I have
recently felt that it is time once again for me to serve on a mission
trip. I was excited when I found
out about an opportunity to join with Adventures In Missions on a trip called
The World Race. On this particular
trip I will be traveling with a group of young people like myself to eleven
different countries in eleven months.
I have been accepted and will be leaving January 2010!
You may be
asking, “Why would anyone give up a year of their life to live in poverty among
the sick and the poor? Why not
just get a real job and begin your adult life?” Well, my answer is simple. As I mentioned before, lately God has been teaching me about
my purpose in this life. I long to
serve Him by reaching out to those who are hurting and desperately need to hear
the name of Jesus. During this
trip, I will be discipled and trained in various areas of ministry and
missions.
So what is
your role in all of this? I am
simply asking for your support on this huge endeavor, whether through prayer or
monetary donations, or both. I
just ask that you do whatever you are able. I will need to raise $13,800 for the year that goes directly
to AIM. I can reach this goal, for
example, if fifty people give $25 per month for an eleven-month period. I am trusting that God will bring in
the finances I need to go on this trip.
I have
enclosed a response card and pre-addressed envelope, which invites you to share
in this ministry. Please make
checks payable to Adventures In Missions.
Including the enclosed card will provide AIM with all necessary
information. In turn, they will
send you a receipt. They request
that you send in all donations by December 2009. Adventures In Missions is registered with the Internal
Revenue Service as a 501 © (3) non-profit organization. Donors will receive receipts for their
gifts with the understanding that the disbursement of those gifts lies
completely at the discretion of Adventures In Missions and that the gifts are
non-refundable and non-transferable, per IRS regulations. Gifts may be tax deductible; please
consult a tax advisor.
I am
absolutely thrilled about what God will do on this trip, in both my life and
the lives of others. I hope that I
can be a blessing to you as well. Please
prayerfully consider being part of my ministry. Thank you so much!
In Him,
Leyna
