[This blog was written a LONG time ago, but I haven’t had good enough internet to upload the video that goes with it until now… So please forgive me for the delay!]
Last month in Kenya, our team spent time in a very small
village about five hours southwest of Nairobi called Naroosara. We worked with a church called the Love
Celebration Center, pastored by a man named Jackson. Our ministry basically consisted of door-to-door evangelism,
preaching at church and open-air gatherings, and volunteering at the school
next door to the Love Celebration Center.
We had the pleasure of sharing nearly every meal with Pastor Jackson in
his office, and some of our conversations were flat-out hilarious. He quickly gave me the nickname “Left”
(because I am left-handed), and for the rest of our time there I was known as
Left instead of Leyna. Pastor also
has a phrase he loves to say every time he gets the chance. Anytime anything seemed puzzling,
shocking, or even remotely interesting to him, he would say “It’s a police
case.” So everything was a police
case all the time. I enjoyed
working with Pastor Jackson, and the levity he brought to our time in Naroosara
with his crazy sense of humor.
Here is a quick little video of Pastor Jackson using his famous saying
on me! J
