I am immensely blessed to have amazing mom waiting for me at home. A mom who loves me but loves Jesus more. A mom who comforts, nurtures, laughs, and listens. Beyond my own mom I know of many mothers that point me back to Christ constantly in the way they act and speak; even in the way they see themselves—not as their duty to be a mom, but as their identity in Christ. Daughter of the King. Loved. Beautiful. Seen, known, and heard. Created in their mothers womb uniquely and wonderfully. They are not laundry machines, punishers, babysitters, cooks, or cleaners. They do not find their identity in their kids.
If you are a mom reading this can I tell you, the Lord looks at you and loves you so deeply. He loves your heart for your kids, as that is one of the most beautiful ways we see how God loves the world, the way a mother loves her children. I see your kindness. I see the work you have constantly made, all to love me the best you can. You constantly walk in humility. Everyday the Lord is using you ladies to teach and equip the next generation to look like Jesus and live for him. He wants to tell you, you can’t do this mom thing in your own strength but He is right here. He says you are worthy of His love every single day. You do so much for this world; I truly believe this world would end without you beautiful, spirit-filled mother’s. God is using you! Every single day! As mothers, as friends, mentors or listeners, as daughters of Christ.
I love you sweet ladies!!!
In my little village of Calderas my heart hurts for all the moms I have met that do not see their value as women and daughters of the Lord. They do not know how creative they are. Or how unique each one were created.
For the last few weeks I have been dreaming of putting a paint brush and paint into some of their hands, holding their kids far away, and giving them a sweet, sweet time to rest and allow the outlet of creativity to let loose.
Oh how my little heart rejoiced on Friday when this came true!
Every single Friday my team tries to host a women’s Bible study in our ministry hosts home and there has never been more than one woman show up. Usually zero.
This has been quite discouraging for my team considering we have been praying fervently and inviting almost every woman we ever see by word of mouth or actually creating handmade invitations and passing them out. Instead of calling it a Bible study this week we decided to throw a “Mother’s Day Event”. We bought enough papers and paint for 15 women. We were hopeful.
The event started at 2 and by 2:20 we fav up thinking anyone would show up and we started painting. We had just gotten off the phone with Raquel who leads the women’s studies that she didn’t need to come anymore when there was a knock at our door.
Three women.
Another knock.
Four women.
Soon our whole table set out was filled with women around it!
And then another knock.
Kayleigh and I ran and grabbed our hosts kitchen table. I spent the next hour running around their house trying to find any chair I could!
One table was set up for painting (SO SWEET!!!) and the other table was set up for making friendship bracelets. When more women started showing up we didn’t know what to do, but thankfully Liz and I had string!
In total THIRTY women showed up! Praise the Lord! Oh how faithful and amazing is He in His perfect timing!! Many women showed much interest in the Bible studies and even talked to Raquel about us teaching them makeup and then teaching us braiding.
During this time we took their kids to the field to play soccer. Some kids refused to leave their mom but thankfully I had markers and paper. I threw them in the corner of the room and the kids were occupied the whole time.
I can not wait for next Friday now!
This week was a tough week for my team honestly. With sickness and warfare, wanting to be home, we struggled. The week ended on a note that makes me excited for next though! For that I am so thankful.
Hey family I’ll be home in 19 days! (Only have to wait 19 days for your Mother’s Day hug, mom! I love you!!!)
And exactly three weeks until I see you church family!!
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!
I love you all!
