Last September I got accepted to the World Race: Gap Year and ever since that day I’ve thought of (probably) every single fundraising idea you could think of to meet my first deadline of $5,000. I couldn’t even begin to tell you how many times I was like I want to quit. It took up so much of my time and if it wasn’t the person on my left it was the person on my right asking, “What happens if you don’t raise the money?” Don’t get me wrong, valid question to ask. But in my head I always heard it as, “What happens if God doesn’t provide for you?” The answer was simple, I wouldn’t be able to go. But no matter how “low” I was on funds I knew in the midst of it all God had a check with my name written on it.

Which is true because if we fast forward SURPRISE I reached my $5,000 goal. Sweet. Awesome. Next goal: Raise another $5,000 in a month. WAIT WHAT??? So you know, I get home from training camp not freaking out, necessary, because I know God does crazy awesome things for His people. So a couple days go by and I’m hearing about all my awesome friends getting these crazy awesome donations and here I am… trying to use all my creative juices to come up with some quick fundraising ideas, but when you only have a month left there’s not much you can do. So I was like shoot, this is all on God— Now don’t get me wrong I believed in God and trusted He would provide in radical ways, but I didn’t like that I had to just sit there and wait. Some would call me impatient, I guess.
So about two weeks goes by after training camp and all of a sudden… BAM donation, BAM donation, BAM another donation! I kid you not in the time span of a week I have received over $8,000 in donations! HOW CRAZY IS THAT???!!!
So now I sit here, with only $900 to fundraise before my third deadline of December 31st (but leaving the country fully funded would be great) in awe of the way God provides for His people. I now laugh a little at all the times I doubted Him. After training camp I just remember thinking: Dang, if it took me 9 months to fundraise $5,000 It will take a miracle for me to raise that in just a month.

God is wicked cool and I just want to thank everyone who has contributed to my trip, whether that be prayerfully or financially I honestly couldn’t have done this without you. I am overwhelmed with thanksgiving that you guys have believed in me and have believed in God’s plans for me. I am filled with joy to know that I am leaving in roughly 4 weeks with an amazing support team. I can not wait to show you guys (via Facebook, my blog) what your support is doing in lives all over the World.
