I MADE IT!!!!!!!!! The past couple of days have been so sweet.
I am currently in Battambang Cambodia at a coffee shop in AIR CONDITIONING! Praise the Lord!!! We’re having a rest day after 4 days of travel. Here’s a little of what I have experienced these past couple of days!
The journey started when we left Georgia at 12 am Sunday. From there we flew into San Francisco where we had a 17 hour layover. That was such an incredible last day in America. The Lord blessed us, and we were able to explore the beautiful city. I got to see the Golden Gate Bridge, play in the sand, and try in-and-out burgers! The air was so fresh, and the city was much calmer than I expected. I was able to relax, and prepare myself for the next 9 months.
We flew from San Francisco to China later that night. It was a 14 hour plane ride, but luckily I was able to sleep, almost the whole time. The Chinese airline was incredibly accommodating, and made the transition so easy. We were treated with TWO meals, and snuggled up in blankets and pillows.
After the luxurious flight from China we flew in to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. In Phnom Penh we stayed at a hotel to rest and sleep horizontally (whoop whoop). We got to see the city, which was incredible, and I just completely fell in love. The Cambodian people are so intentional, and loving, it’s hard not to fall in love with them.
The next morning we woke up and had an 8 hour bus ride to our ministry site where we will be living. On the way we stopped for lunch at an incredible place, we played with children, ate our first Cambodian meal, and used a squaty potty.
Finally, after a restless four days we arrived at our ministry site in Battambang, where we were greeted by the most amazing people. Our host family is truly selfless, and has a heart of gold. They have made me feel like I’m living at a home away from home.
The house is extremely clean, and was more than I could ever ask for. I’m sharing a room with my team (5 other girls) We are still adjusting to the to the heat, and non air conditioned living, but the kind people, and loving atmosphere has definitely made up for that. I honestly could not be more blessed to be living in such an amazing community, sharing about an awesome God.
I’ll attach some photos to help y’all visualize the experience. Love always, til next time. Lexi
