I sit in this park in Kathmandu admiring God’s creation. The monkeys playing. The birds flocking. The dogs napping. The bamboo swaying. The fountains tinkling. The children laughing.

All of it is simply beautiful.

Then I look up and see a dog adorned with a necklace of flowers and a holy mark on his forehead.

My heart breaks.

God’s beautiful creation is shattered.

The perfection of creation marred by sin.

Today is the Hindu dog festival, the whole city is celebrating.

Celebrating the dog as a god. One in their pantheon of 330 million gods.

My heart breaks.

What have we done?

We have allowed all of creation to succumb to it’s brokenness with out a word of dissent. We sit idly by as our neighbors bow down and worship the creation rather than the creator. We say that someone else will step out and share the gospel, that it’s not our job. We say we’re not enough to change anything, that others can do more. We make up excuses to stay in our boxes. We ignore the earth-shattering cry of our neighbors.

Why don’t we do more?

Why don’t we say hello to the person we see everyday on the way to work or school? Why don’t we give that extra fast food hamburger to the homeless person at the park rather than gorging ourselves simply because we bought it? Why don’t we speak boldly about our faith rather than hiding behind social convention? Why don’t we take the Great Commission seriously? Why don’t we share the love we have been gifted with our neighbors down the street or across the globe?

Are we scared? Are we ashamed? Are we unsure?

Well we shouldn’t be.

God himself came down from Heaven to DIE for us, why do we live as if He didn’t. Are you willing to die for Christ?

Christ died and took all of our sin so that when we die we will spend eternity in HEAVEN with Him.

Why are we scared, ashamed, or unsure about sharing the gospel when Christ promised us eternal perfection for doing so?

Christ died for us, who said living for him would be easy? But it will be worth it.

~Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20~
