So when I heard that I had to start blogging for the World Race my first thought was, WHY? I’m just a simple, small town girl, No one wants to hear that today I decided to have pizza for dinner instead of macaroni and cheese.
I didn’t understand who would want to follow my life. I’m not exciting to be honest my life is pretty boring. Then I realized I’m not writing this blog for me and my life, I’m writing this to show each person reading this, God’s vision for my life and how he is going to help me change the world (at least a little part of it).
God has decided to use me to take this journey around the world, have crazy adventures, and spread His love throughout His kingdom. I have always wanted to go on a crazy adventure around the world and just pick up my backpack and leave, but I never thought it would be possible. That is, until I found out about the World Race.
For those of you who have not heard of the World Race it is a missions trip/discipleship program in which I will travel to 11 different countries in 11 months. My trip will launch next July and is scheduled to go to South Africa, Swaziland, Mozambique, India, Nepal, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. During my time in each of these countries I will be doing any thing from building churches to helping with VBS to working with women and children forced into prostitution through the sex slave trade.
Though the price tag that comes with this trip is daunting to say the least. When you break it down the amount become understandable considering I will be traveling to 11 different countries from Cambodia to South Africa to Guatemala. That’s not even the scariest part to me. Frankly, the thought of packing up and leaving my family, boyfriend, friends, dog, and home for 11 months is terrifying, sometimes it approaches crippling. I know this is something I would never be able to do without the strength and grace of God.
But in case there are any of you out there that read this to learn more about me here it goes…
I’m 23 years old and a college graduate. I love helping out with the Varsity softball team at my old high school, and Christmas is my favorite day of the year (sorry the facts are REALLY random but like I said I’M BORING). 🙂
I graduated from WMU this past December with my Bachelor’s Degree in International and Comparative Politics with my minor in Arabic. When I graduated I thought I knew what I wanted to do with my degree, but that door shut in my face. Then I decided to go to grad school, yet another door closed. I was lost when I came across the World Race (one of my friends came back this past June from the Race).
Right now my adventure is just beginning, and if you made it this far into this unexpectedly long post I have one request. I would ask that you consider/pray to see if partnering with me in this adventure is something that you could/would do. If you do decide to partner with me let me first say THANK YOU! next there is a “Support Me” tab on the left side of your screen, this is the easiest way to donate.
God bless!
