I have been going through a scary time health-wise. I have had so many people by my side praying for me, and I can’t begin to describe how much this support has meant to me. I also can’t tell you how many people have said to me, “If God gets you to it, He’ll get you through it” with as much meaning and hope as they can muster. Every time I hear someone say this I just want to call shenanigans and ask them what god they worship because its not the same one I worship.
The God I worship allows us to be tested and allows us to choose our own paths, He isn’t the one to tempt us or make us sick. My God is a God of love and mercy that will get us through anything thrown at us and any wrong decision we make.
In the story of Moses, it was pharaoh who ordered the Hebrews to throw all male babies into the Nile, BUT God used Pharaoh’s actions to eventually free His people.
It was Joseph’s brothers that threw him in a pit and sold him into slavery. It was his slave master’s wife who accused him of slavery, and his slave master who threw him in jail. BUT it was God that used all of these circumstances to further His kingdom.
Job had it pretty dang good and it wasn’t God that took it all from him, BUT it was God that got him through the loss of everything he loved.
God uses our decisions, whether good or bad, to further His kingdom. He doesn’t “get us to” bad situations, that has our own names written all over it. BUT He does get us through anything that we or Satan can throw our way.
God sent His son to die for US! How crazy is that?! We’re just walking around down here eating apples, screwing everything up, and getting ourselves into some pretty big messes. BUT we don’t have to worry, because whatever we get ourselves into, or whatever Satan throws at us, God will get us through it.
God doesn’t do things to spite people. People do things to spite people. God uses our fallen state to further His plans and His kingdom. In my mind God is a really awesome chess player and even when Satan takes away one (or a bunch) of God’s beloved pieces God still wins the game because there is only one piece that matters… the KING. And my King can’t be killed, because He has already died.
