As we close out of the easter season I felt this topic was fitting. After Dieing on the cross Jesus came back to explain to his disciples in better detail what happened. God left them with a decree, that not only applied to them but applies to us.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the father, son, and Holy Spirit.” -Mathew 28:19
It is our jobs as Christians to always be ready to tell your story, and to tell Christ’s story. This past week I got the opportunity to share the Lord in a great way. A touchy subject came up as we were talking in a group. The person proceeded to say that if you kill yourself you are going straight to hell. I on the other hand do not believe that. Another fellow Christian in the group that is older than me, asked him to tell him where in the bible that it said that. He had no idea, because that is not true.
Then they asked me what I believed about it and why? I told them “I believe that the Jesus came and died to take away all of our sins, I believe that if we truly accept the gift of salvation, there is nothing that we can do to lose our salvation. If there was a way for us to lose our salvation then the Jesus died on the cross for nothing.
He then asked me “Okay so if a mass murder came and killed a bunch of people, got the death penalty, and then found Jesus while he was in prison would he go to heaven?” My answer was of course “yes.” Christ sees all sin equal. There nothing in his eyes that is weighted more than others. Anything that we do bad or good will not affect anything.
“6.When we were utterly helpless. Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.7. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. 8.But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. 9. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation” – Romans 5:6-9
Even if that did not change his mind about the subject, at least I know that he listened. I can only hope that he thinks about it. In this instance I did not expect that. I should have been more prepared to spit out scripture at him. That’s why we have to prepare ourselves for situations that God is using us to tell his story, and ours as well.
God did not intend for everyone to do world missions, he has made different people for different jobs. We can live ordinary life’s and still be missionary. God wants us to do whatever we do for his glory, even if that means being a Dr. and praying for your patient.
