As 2015 comes to a close I can’t help but think what a BIG year. I have had so many memorable moments that have happened throughout this year. I Graduated high school, said Goodbye to my family, lived in Guatemala for 3 months, and lived in Malaysia with an Indian family. I have grown my relationship with the Lord the most I have ever. I would not trade this year for any other. It will forever hold so many wonderful, sad, and crazy memories.
Here’s 20 things 2015 has taught me personally.
1. High school is a small portion of your life, don’t spend so much time investing your life in the little things. It will be over before you know it.
2. Friends come and go especially when you are true to your faith, and don’t give in to peer pressure.
3. Leaving your family for the real World is THE hardest thing you ever have to do.
4. Marrying/ Dating a Man who will be a spiritual leader is vital DO NOT settle.
5. Making time for the Lord is a necessity and should come before anything else.
6. Ministry is not always in the form of sharing the Gospel, it’s often forming relationships and spreading joy and can happen in anywhere you are.
7. A community that will push you to be better and encourage you in your Faith is so important.
8. Not spending the Holidays with your Family is hard, but the Lord will reward you with so much more. ( Like Thanksgiving in Guate and the family getting to try new foods, or like Christmas in Malaysia and getting to dress and be indian.
9. My mom is my best friend, and 10,000 miles away I look forward to talking to her when I can.
10. My Dad is the most spiritual man I know and gives the best Biblical Advice.
11. Guatemalan’s have the biggest heart, German and Suzzie loved us so well and made sure they treated us like their own.
12. That even if we are only a short part of the people’s life we come in contact with, they will remember us forever.
13. We maybe the only Bible people will ever read, so live a biblical life.
14. Sometimes you don’t get to choose to grow up, the World Race puts you in Charge of 6 other people and making sure you are on time everywhere you go.
15. Meeting new people and making relationships are important and even with though you may have been comfortable where you were that changing your friend group, ministry, or team is a good thing.
16. Malaysia has my heart.
17. God knows the desires of your heart. (Growing up without a big extended family that got together and got along was something I have ALWAYS wanted. I tell my mom regularly that I want to marry in to a family like that. Yet God gave me a “Big Ole Indian Family” I’m so blessed.)
18. Schooling will not teach life lessons. (Shammzz and Adam will.)
19. Malayisans LOVE selfies, and its not weird if someone takes a picture of you that you don’t even know.
20. It’s important that you leave relationships better than you found them.
