In just three days we’ll be packing our bags and flying to India. Our
month in Nepal
has gone by quicker than any other country for me. I cannot believe that our
time here is almost over. So much has happened this month-my apologies for not
posting updates. Until Now. ๐
Meet my incredible family!
This is our mom, Bhim (pronounced “beam”). She doesn’t speak
a lick of English, but she loves us just the same. This woman is a servant to
all! She’s constantly taking care of us-mostly with her fabulous cooking! She’s
always sporting a smile. Always! She has a soft heart and a warm smile. Her
home has an open-door policy, and she welcomes any and all who drop by for a
visit. The way she displays God’s hospitality and servant hood is a great
challenge to me.
Megh! This is our dad for the month. He is criminally
insane, and we LOVE it! He’s always making us laugh! He makes life exciting!
This man has such an incredible passion for bringing Christ’s fame to Nepal. His
vision for evangelism is full of strength and power. When he’s not hosting
missionary teams in his home, or preaching at his local church, he works for a
trekking company. He leads groups of people on hikes through the mountains of Nepal (yes,
Everest, too!). He uses his side job as a way to worship-he’s able to point out
God’s beautiful creation to all who come to him, needing a guide to navigate
them up the trails.
Subas-our nineteen year old little brother. Subas is
incredibly talented at playing the guitar-it’s almost not even fair (he’s only
been playing for four years, and he’s a prodigy!). He and his friends have
started a volunteer group that makes home visits to people who are sick. They
pray for them, and help to raise money to take care of medical debt that families
are incapable of paying off. He’s studying business at a local university, but
isn’t sure which career to pursue just yet. When you ask him what he wants to
be, he says, “A successful person”. ๐
Our Nepalese family is incredible. INCREDIBLE. We’ve grown
so close to them in such a short period of time. Last week some of our friends
left for a preaching seminar. Before they left, we decided to have them over
for dinner to send them off well. Our team made lunch for everyone. The cooking
took a couple of hours, and as we prepared food, the house continued to flood
with friends and family. People everywhere. The smell of yummy food filling the
house. Card games and hot tea. It felt a lot like Thanksgiving. We enjoyed the
meal together, and after everyone left, our family took a nap. Everyone
crashed. Come to think of it…it was EXACTLY like Thanksgiving ๐ The feel of
our house on that day made me feel like I’d never left home. I was so
comfortable. I hadn’t experienced that on the race until this month. This
place, this home, this family…all incredible. God’s presence here is so thick
and undeniable. He is amazing.
Father,
I praise you for family all across the globe. For the
blessings of a loving, open home. For the blending of cultures. For the
similarities in us all. God, you are so good. So very, very good. I love you,
Abba.
Amen.
