I’m typing this from the Hong Kong airport. Miguel and Janell are in Manilla already…and Chelsea, Tara, Tim and I are almost there! (Pic is us, waiting @ the airport)Currently, we’re waiting out a 2.5 hour layover and we’ll soon be reunited with our ENTIRE team/squad in Manilla! While on our chain of flights, I’ve had a lot of time to think through some things. Lately, I find myself asking “Who are you doing this for, Les?”. Ultimately, I default to God. This trip is about Him. It’s for Him. It’s because of Him. But…for the last few hours, i’ve been thinking about the people I’m going to meet once we’re in Manilla. Who are they? What are they like? What kind of people am I going to live with? I don’t have any answers to these questions (yet). What I DO know…is what type of people I WANT to encounter. William Wadsworth describes them better than I ever could:
“Lucy”
She dwelt among the untrodden ways
Beside the Sea of Dove.
A maiden whom there were none to praise,
And very few to love.
A voilet by a mossy stone
Half hidden from the eye!
Fair as a star, when only one
Is shining in the sky.
She lived unknown, and few could know
When Lucy ceased to be
But she is in her grave, and O!
The difference to me!
While i’m gone, I want to meet and love the “Lucy’s”. I want them to know that they’re LOVED! This is my prayer for the entire trip–that God would introduce Himself to the “Lucy’s” of this world through our team as we travel in His name. Would you pray that with me for the next 11 months? THANK YOU for your love, encouragement, support and interest in our trip! We wouldn’t be here without you guys! Alright, I’m off to Manilla…write you when I get there! <3
