During E Squad’s debrief, I began to redefine my identity by the attributes God has for me. I was challenged to list 50 opinions God has about me. When we started to share as a squad, many people shared these great qualities God recognized in them; they shared qualities like “fearless” and “graceful”. These were wonderful, but I heard God say something different to me. You see, God thinks I’m awkward.

Actually, God not only thinks I’m awkward, He knows that I am; it is a verifiable fact. I’m the girl who trips and hits her head and will then laugh at her own jokes. I make ridiculous faces and I get tongue tied. I don’t know a lot about pop culture. When I don’t know how to start a conversation I ask the world’s most bizarre ice breaker questions, like “if you were a tree, what would your favorite movie be?” I’m awkward. But the next part of what God said is the best. He said that I am awkward in a refreshing way. God thinks I’m refreshing! How cool is that!

Here’s what God says about me,

Leslie,

You are awkward, in a refreshing way.

You are an artist, with a creative spirit.

A follower of nothing but the Spirit, you are a true one-of-a-kind creation.

I’ve filled you with an unexplainable JOY.

Through all your pain and all your struggles, you have not been alone. For I am with you.

Leslie, you dance, because you once mourned. You mourned, but I have replaced it with JOY!

OVERCOMER this is the name I have given to you.

I have made you a healer, and health will be your legacy.

Your insights are unique, for I have given you pair of rose colored glasses to wear.

Like Ezekiel, you can see life where others only see death.

Oh little one, in so many ways you reflect a child-like spirit.

With laughter. With curiosity. With adventure. With faith.

You are a seeker of knowledge and understanding, but I am unfathomable.

I love you, more than you will ever understand.

I especially love your awkwardness.

More than you know,

Abba

What is God saying about you?
