Once a week throughout the month of December, team Nahala was blessed to spend a day with an incredible man named Bipin. Bipin and his wife Sarah are fire starters for the kingdom of God. They are revivalists who listen for God’s voice and then go where God calls them. They are filled with passion for spreading the good news and the Gospel message all over Nepal. Consequently, each day with Bipin was unlike any other.

This was our first day of ministry in Nepal. It began by praying. We asked the LORD to move in our ministry and to reveal himself in masterful ways. Bipin and Sarah were present when our team found out our $3 for food per day budget. While we commenced freaking out, they prayed for us and offered to purchase one jug of drinking water for us.
Next, Kamie and I left with Bipin and Sarah to go aid a local missionary’s outreach of making cards. Kamie and I got to draw and sketch designs for greeting cards while listening to the missionary pour out her heart and her passion. It was inspiring. That evening the rest of my team (those who weren’t suffering from altitude sickness like me), went to the “touristy” part of Kathmandu called Thamel, and prayed over dance clubs and ministered to those they could.

Today’s ministry began very early. We were up and out of our apartment by 7:30 am. We met Bipin at the bus stop, making our hour-long trip to a small secluded village. In truth the adventure of getting to the village was a challenge in itself. We took 2 buses, and then hiked a small (muddy) foothill. When we arrived at the village church, it was in such a picturesque place, that it was impossible not to feel the majesty of God.
This small village church opened up its doors to us and shared their worries. We were blessed to pray for its small congregation. With Bipin, we were encouraged to share visions and prophetic words for this church community. Most of my team shared pictures of hope and about the healing powers of God. We encouraged this church to stand strong in the face of persecution, and to always lean on the LORD. Lastly today, we passed evangelical “Christmas” pamphlets out to the community. Wishing everyone, Hindu, Buddhist, or Christian, everyone a very Merry Christmas!

Going into this day of ministry, I literally knew nothing about what we were going to do. It was a complete mystery to me. However this day may have been one of my best days on the Race. We started by going to a bible study gathering at a woman’s house. At this bible study, we sang songs and prayed for one another. I made friends with a 93-year-old Nepali woman. We couldn’t speak the same language, but we were both able to encourage one another. Even at her age, she sang and prayed with a tenacity of the Spirit which spoke to my heart. I quickly decided that I wanted to be like her when I grow up. Speaking and believing in the goodness and mercy of God.
After leaving the 2 hour long bible study, my team, with Bipin, piled into a bus to go to a local hospital. I knew that my teammate (and medical professional) Erika was going to share with the doctors we would be meeting. So while riding to the hospital, I prayed that Erika would have the words to share (since Bipin had not provided a lot of preparation time for her). By the time we arrived at the hospital, I felt God telling me to share part of my testimony.
So here my team was, in our World Race gear (clothes that aren’t quite clean and hair a little more than disheveled), and we are about to speak to a board of directors at a Nepali hospital. It was a daunting task. However, God is awesome and He broke the ice. He gave all of us words to speak and freedom to share the gospel with the Hindu board of directors. I was able to speak with confidence and truthfully share how God has used my psychical health to reveal His mercy in my life. It was indescribable. To finish the incredible night, my team got driven home from ministry in a Nepali ambulance.

On our last official day of ministry with Bipin, we were invited to his house to share a meal. My team was blessed by the lovely cooking of Sarah, and we were given an opportunity to pray for Bipin’s family, neighbors, and ministry. It was an afternoon filled with love, encouragement, and friendship. In many ways, it was a reflection of how the body of Christ should be.

This day was an extra special day with Bipin. He had previously assisted my teammates, Erika and Stephany, and myself arrange for a bungee jumping experience through a friend of his. Since we were “young, foreign females”, Bipin took it upon himself to escort the three of us to ensure our safety. While the organization we went with was completely safe and such a tourist-used group, it was the caring nature of Bipin that made me feel so comforted.
Throughout the day, Bipin was a constant source of encouragement. He was, in fact, the ultimate support coach, despite not bungee jumping himself. For me, going bungee jumping was about conquering fears, and trust not just in the LORD but also trusting in the cord to take care of my life. Bipin prayed over Erika, Stephany, and myself before, after, and during our jumps.

As all of E Squad’s teams were trying to find transportation to the airport. My team, Nahala, needed to look no further than our friend Bipin. When we asked, Bipin provided. He arranged for a van to take us from our Nepali home to the International airport. What’s more Bipin came along in order to bid us farewell at the airport.
Our time with Bipin, while not abundant in amount, was abundant in love and energy. Each day with Bipin was filled with the unknown and adventure, but most importantly they were filled with Holy Spirit. I want to encourage all of you to live each day like you’re with Bipin!
