Hi! My name is Leslie.
Since I am 23 years old, I thought I would share 23 facts about me. Here it goes…
1. I was born in Bethesda, MD and I grew up in Orange Park, FL.
2. I have a large family (which I love). I have 3 older sisters, 2 brothers, 3 brothers-in-law, 3 nephews, 2 sets of parents, 2 cats, and a lot of cousins, uncles, and aunts.
3. Reading is my favorite activity. (I try to read 2-4 books a week)
4. On the subject of reading, my favorite story is the Lord of the Rings which I have read once a year for the past decade.
5. I graduated from Florida State University, with a B.A. in Religion (focusing on Early Christianity and Judaism)
6. My favorite meal is lunch.
7. I love to travel. (which is probably a good thing considering I’m about to go to 11 countries)
8. When I was 3, I decided I wanted to be a missionary.
9. I have been on 5 short term mission trips: 2 to Guatemala and 3 to Haiti.
10. I am a passionate person (and sometimes emotional). I tend to wear my heart on my sleeves.
11. British television is my favorite. Give me Doctor Who, Downton Abbey, Broadchurch, and Sherlock any day of the week.
12. My favorite bible verse is Hebrews 13:3 “Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoner and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.”
13. I’m an introvert, but I’m not shy.
14. I have taken procrastination to an art form.
15. I’m a night-owl. Not literally, I just get a lot of energy late at night. I think my circadian rhythm is off beat.
16. I have taken dance for approximately 15 years. (ballet and pointe are my favorite)
17. I run a dance camp for the girls at my church. It’s called RAKAD. I started it in 2009 and God has been blessing it ever since.
15. When I was 8, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (an auto-immune disease which cause your body to cease producing insulin). My diabetes meds and supplies are the thing which I am most concerned about for World Race. BUT i’m going to trust God on this matter.
16. Unfortunately, I have awkward small talk. Fortunately, I am investing in improving those skills. You’ve been warned.
17. I’ve been inspired (especially to go on World Race) by dearest friends from college. Kelly- is serving in Indonesia with the Peace Corps, Rachel- is working with a Fulbright in Cypress, Allison- who lived in Chontala, Guatemala for several months, and Paige- who is doing mission work in London, England, UK.
18. I like to say that I’m very creative, however, that does not necessarily mean that I am very talented. Regardless, I like to express myself in different ways.
19. I enjoy colder climates, but considering I have never really lived in cold weather I have no idea how I would fair in the cold long term.
20. My favorite season is fall.
21. I like to try new things, even if I do act a little scared in the moment. I like to say that I’m an adventurer.
22. I’m excited to see where God takes me and what His plans are for me. Especially now that…
