this is an email I sent to my supporters then realized a lot of people have given anonymously so I don’t have any contact info. I want everyone whose taken time to support me to read this so here it is in blog form–
greetings from Malaysia! as i prepare to enter into my 8th month of this 11 month journey i realized i haven’t done the best job of keeping my friends, family and supporters in the loop of what my life has been like as I’ve traveled the world following god’s will for my life.
i want to apologize for that, please know that i am very thankful and appreciative of you guys and everything you’ve done for me, not only exclusive to me doing the world race, but in my life in general. each one of you have loved me so well and for that, i’m forever thankful.
these past 7 months have been a crazy ride. i’ve done so many things i never expected to do in my life like preach in front of churches, lead english camps in schools (scary to think people want me to teach english, i know :p ) work in womens prison ministries, help set up soccer camps for local street kids and the list goes on. looking back i realize how blessed i am to have been called to do the world race. i’ve faced a lot of fears and conquered a lot of demons in my time on the field.
the world race has opened my eyes to what i believe god is calling me into and while i don’t have all the details as to what that looks like right now, i can tell you it is a season of missions. i believe god is wanting to me to spend the next few years in preparation of that by completing more fellowship, leadership and discipleship programs that will help refine the skills god has given me and equip me with new skills so i can go out into the nations sharing god’s love.
fundraising for me has been a stretch out of my comfort zone because asking for money is something i’ve never liked doing. but this season of my life, the world race, god is breaking me of that pride and reminding me that part of being in the christian community is learning how to not only support one another but allowing others to support me as well. financially, spiritually and always in prayer. it’s been pretty cool to walk through a season of relying solely on god and the support of others and it has shown me just how powerful this community is.
i want to ask you all to prayerfully consider partnering with me financially as i continue to walk in the direction of missions that the lord is calling me to. for starters, i have around $4,400.00 left to raise for the world race. this amount, once raised, will complete the total amount of $16,250.00 i needed for this journey. if god is tugging at your heart to help me finish out this remaining $4,400 due, then please join me with your financial support.
if you believe that you are suppose to give but want it to go directly towards me and not my world race account, i am in need of personal funds. i didn’t really realize how important personal funds were until i actually got on the race and realized between bills back home and needing items such as hygiene supplies and spending money, i’m just lacking quite a bit of funds in that area, too.
please know that if you want to donate but are shying away because you don’t have much to give, know that even the smallest amount of $5 goes a LONG way for me. let god use you by helping me in financially, i am not able to do this without everyone’s love and giving hearts. i want to thank you all again for your continuous love and support you’ve shown me. know that i’m praying blessings for you and your families. i would love to chat with you all one on one whenever you have the time! with love, leslie
