Let me start by telling you what querencia is.

Querencia is a place from which one’s strength is drawn, where one feels at home, the place where you are your most authentic self. It is a bull fighting term describing the place that has developed in the mind of the bull that it makes its home. The bull will go to this place when it feels like its back is up against the wall, but while in his querencia, the bull is more dangerous and almost impossible to kill.

AND it is also my team name!

My team is made up of 6 amazing women. While at training camp my team and I bonded over what God is doing in our lives and our walks with Christ. My team and I also found out that while in Cambodia (our first stop on the World Race) we would be working for a new ministry and helping it establish its self in Phnom Penh. I am very excited that I get to spend a month evangelizing with some very amazing and spiritual women.

Team Querencia

At training camp, I bonded with more than just my team but also my squad. We started out on Wednesday August 10th as complete strangers with the awkward first day of college questions of what is your name, where you are from, and how did you hear about the World Race. After a good 48 hours of struggling to remember 37 people’s names (let’s be honest I had a hard time till about day 5) we started to truly develop into a family. We bonded quickly over one simple fact we were called by God to do the World Race and were following His call. We bonded over our testimonies and struggles we were still going through in our relationships with God.

Also my squad is full of a bunch of Tolkien nerds (I LOVE IT) and our squad name is Misty Mountains.

Training camp was personally a very hard but amazing time. It was hard because the first half of the time there was spent really diving deep into my personal relationship with God and really figuring out what kept me from God. This part of the week really gave me the strength I needed to stand up to the devil and tell him that I will be doing the World Race and I am good enough to be a missionary. During this part of the week God really reinforced in me about how I will never be “perfect” until I am in my eternal home but I am doing exactly what I should be by following His calling.
But all in all, training camp was amazing and exactly what I needed. If I got a call in the next ten minutes saying get on a plane we are leaving tomorrow, well…BYE! But I do have one more month before I leave so now I am working to be present in every situation till I am gone.

Also my mom is pretty awesome and got me balloons as a welcome home from training camp surprise.

I want to thank all of my supporters that have joined me on the World Race adventure so far and got me to training camp!
