August we spent our month in Nicaragua. This has to be the most beautiful country I have seen thus far. Nicaragua has a special type of beauty; breathtaking scenes of beautiful, lush, green pastures with mysterious backgrounds of dark, gray mountains. Daily I was in awe of God’s craftsmanship of this country. We had the unique opportunity of visiting different places and experiencing different ministries throughout the month.
The first part of the month our team stayed in Jinotepe and partnered with a local Baptist church. We had a great time assisting with cleaning and painting the church, planting banana trees, assisting with Sunday school and youth gatherings, evangelizing, making house visits and sharing our testimonies with the congregation.
Our team also spent a few days with Pastor Kyro, from the Baptist Church, visiting churches in Managua. During our days spending time with these different church families we attended services (even a 5 am prayer service), visited homes of church members to encourage and pray for them, and put on a kid’s program at a Christian school.
This is how we look 5 am after spending the night on those benches.
August was the month for our Parent Vision Trip; which is a week to invite our parents out on the field to do ministry along side of us. Therefore, after spending a wonderful two weeks in Jinotepe, it was time to make our way to a town outside of Leon, to meet our parents. We spent the week serving with our parents and an incredible ministry called Vision Nicaragua. It was a great experience engaging with our parents in the work we have been doing on the field, in our worship and prayer and getting to experience some of the great Kingdom work Vision Nicaragua is doing in the small villages near Leon.
Our last week of the month the entire squad came together in Granada for our month 8 debrief. Debrief is such a great time for us to come together to rest, worship and debrief the last few months. Our coaches and mentors also joined us, bringing along some great teachings and encouragement. Among other things, we began discussing and praying about what re-entry is going to look like so we can begin to prepare. Please join us in prayer as we are beginning to walk through that.
Incredibly thankful for another great month of experiencing all the beautiful ways God is moving in this world and in each of His children.
Love you guys!
