As I sit in the LA airport waiting for our flight, I am looking at my team and reflecting on the past couple of days. I am filled with such love, hope, excitement and a little bit of fear. So where did this journey begin? We started off at launch in Atlanta GA on January 9th 2020. We got to spend 4 days with all the other squads that will be going on other mission trips around the world. We were all learning about the roles we are going to play while on the race. We did some last-minute training for the field as well. Lastly, we got to see our amazing squad leader and coaches. It was a lot to take in but so wonderful to spend time with everyone before we embark on our long flight overseas and things get crazy…crazy good that is ?? What is one of my roles or main jobs for the race you may ask. Well, Lauren (an awesome teammate of mine) and I are the Beauty for Ashes coordinators. This is an amazing woman’s ministry designed to show woman all over the world how much they are truly loved and treasured by us and most importantly by God! We will be setting up a 1-day conference. I have decided to start in the early morning. We will start by serving them breakfast, have a time of teaching/story, bible study, share our testimonies, have an activity, serve lunch and a final teaching/story. I am very excited to do this woman’s ministry but also nervous to put it all together and preach in front of these ladies. I cannot wait to see how the Lord moves and works through it though. We will also be training our entire squad about the conference so if they want to do one in the future they can.
After launch we headed to the airport. The first travel day was already a bit crazy. We went from Atlanta GA to LA for our first flight. We had a 30-hour layover in LA. After we checked into our hotel, we decided to go to Santa Monica bay. Best day on the race so far. LOL ?? We played in the ocean even though it was only 60 degrees and the water was freezing. Walking along the pier we listened to the music of some very talented musicians as we watched the sunset. Then it was off to my old stomping grounds, Target (I worked there for over two years), to get a few last-minute things. As I am writing this, I am anxiously waiting to board our 13-hour flight to New Zealand where we will have a layover before we board the final flight to Australia. I am so excited to get to the first country on this amazing journey the Lord has me on! Here we come world, wrecking you for Jesus!!
