First of all, thank you so much to everyone for your continued prayers and support. It really means so much to know that people back home are constantly lifting us up in prayers.
Let’s play catch up from month 3 in Madagascar and month 4 in Vietnam.
Madagascar:
We were the first World Race squad to go to Mada! The first part of our month was spent in the capital city of Antananarivo. It was our all squad month, meaning that we all lived together for the month. Two awesome girls were added to my team, making it team “Shebrews”. We worked with OM Madagascar and each team did different work around the city. My team did evangelism at the University of Antananarivo and saw the Lord work in amazing ways! We started our days with worship and prayer time, we had daily bible studies and then split up in groups of two or three with a translator. Some went to the dorms to do door-to-door ministry, some walked around campus and met people hanging out around campus, some some visited classes and others stayed back and prayed for the group. Countless people gave their lives to the Lord there, it was such an amazing thing to be apart of! It was hard and awkward at first but became fun to walk up to people, get to know them and then tell them about the love of Jesus. Most people would claim to be Protestant or Catholic but knew nothing about a personal relationship with Jesus, God’s love and the power of the Holy Spirit. They were friendly and open to everything we had to say and we made lots of new friends. I really enjoyed seeing what college life was like for them and getting to hear so many of their stories.
We spent the last week at beautiful camp in a village called Montasoa, a few hours outside of Antananarivo. We camped right by a lake and participated in different ministries based on our talents and interests. Some helped paint the newly built classrooms, some took a canoe around the lake and evangelized to people who live around there, some did construction, kids classes, arts and crafts, some walked to surrounding villages and so much more. We had a prayer tent, more like teepee, that had people praying in around the clock. It was such a good week out in nature, away from the pollution of the city. The Lord’s presence was truly felt there and I really enjoyed seeing the impact that the camp was making in the village and surrounding areas.
Vietnam:
Back in nam, we spent the month in a gorgeous village teaching English. I helped with the sports, some taught English vocab and others taught fun songs for kids. After school, kids would come to the center for open English lessons. We spent a lot of time helping them with pronunciation and just showed them love and friendship. It is illegal to evangelize in Nam, so most of our time was spent just cultivating relationships. We helped build some brick walls for fences, we crashed a wedding (which was awesome), we went on a couple of amazing waterfall adventures, had some culture sharing time and made some of the best friends. Our group of 7 grew so much and we had the best pho of our lives!
The end of the month was debrief, we all got together at a hostel in Ho Chi Minh City where the guys had manistry all month. We had worship times, several sessions where we were poured into by some of the leadership team and got to have one on ones. We got to unwind and process our past couple of months really well. We also had some fun at a 3D painting expo! During this time I was also invited to be a raised up squad leader and would start training soon.
We laughed, we cried, we taught, we adventured, we karaoked, we loved, we prayed, we traveled, we gave feedback and most importantly we saw God move in big ways all around us.
