It was a Wednesday evening.
My team was teaching an art class to a group of ten young girls and women.
I was walking around the room watching the girls draw, when my teammate, Candice, caught my eye. One of the brothers wanted us to come with him outside.
There was very little communication and before I could make it out the door and ask what we were doing, the brother was down the stairs. Following him, still unsure of what was going on, I came around the corner of the stairwell and saw a couple coming in the gate. They appeared to be in their mid-twenties. The man was pushing the woman in a wheelchair. The brother who had called Candice and I out of the class, was already at the gate speaking to them.
The moment I saw the woman, I no longer was confused about what was happening. I heard God say,"I am going to heal her."
I continued down the stairs, eager for God to carry out his healing, but also slightly nervous. What if she wasn't healed?
I'd seen God's healing before. I'd read countless stories about it in the Bible. I'd even watched as God took away the pain our housekeeper was experiencing in her knees, while I prayed for her earlier this month. But this intimidated me.
As I walked down the last couple of stairs God reaffirmed, "Just trust me. I'm going to heal her."
Candice and I walked up to the lady and our brother began to tell us about the woman. She had been paralyzed since childhood and had never been able to walk. Hearing that we were at the Worship Center she came so that we could pray for her.
Kneeling down, Candice and I prayed for the woman. Thanking God for her and His healing power. We prayed for a couple minutes and saying, "Amen" we stood up. The brothers spoke to her again and said that, nothing had changed.
Still feeling that God had more for the lady, Candice asked if there was anything else that we could pray for. One of the brothers told us, that she had surgery a couple of months ago that resulted in her having serious pain in her legs. With this again, Candice and I kneeled down to pray.
Again we thanked God for his beautiful daughter and for the things He was doing in her life. And then we commanded the pain in her body to be gone in Jesus' name. While we were praying I could feel the woman's legs shacking in my hands and also felt a surge of energy go through my arm. At this moment, although I was not confident of what was happening I knew that the woman had been healed.
Finishing prayer, we stood up and the woman was beaming at us. The brothers confirmed what I had already known to be true. She had been healed. The pain that minutes before had been in her legs, was gone. Praise the Lord. Our group of six stood outside of the worship center in the dark praising God and filled with excitement.
The lady continued to smile at us as she shared that she believed that God was going to completely heal her. Her faith was amazing and we told her that we were standing in agreement with her for complete healing. By Christ's stripes we were healed. As she and her friend went out of the gate, I was overwhelmed with what God had done.
God is healer. The miracles that He preformed in the Bible, He is still doing today.
