Coming into Nepal I tried to predict and imagine what ministry would include. I pictured myself living and serving in village in or near the Himalayan Mountain range. With the similar village qualities as previous villages in Moldova and India. When we found out that we would be hours south of the Himalayas, near the southern border of Nepal, I had mixed emotions. I was disappointed in the fact there weren’t any mountains nearby which disintegrated the possibility of a climbing adventure. However, I was excited to taste what it is like to live in a village. In India we would visit villages every night but never stayed overnight. Our hosts in India blessed and spoiled us beyond what imagined.

We pulled up to our new humble abode. Driving through the property you see the church on your right, the contact’s house on your left and the school in the back. Sleeping arrangements were arranged and an idea of or daily schedule was revealed. Every morning we would have tea at 7 am, followed by quiet time and getting ready for the day. After breakfast at 9, you would usually find us getting ready for the students to arrive at 10 and teaching to begin. We would have a break from noon to 3, and end the day teaching a final 45 minute class.

In addition to teaching some of us would head to a nearby soccer field to play with the kids. As we would walk to the field a crowd of children would accumulate, wanting to hold our hands and be as close to us as possible. Entertainment would range from duck, duck goose, singing songs, the rain game and simply running.
