Before training camp I struggled with the idea of asking for financial support. For the majority of my adult life I have been blessed with the financial stability to pay for what I want and need. So when I considered asking for funds for an 11 month mission trip around the world, I felt like I was asking for people to help me pay for an adventure holiday.
During training camp my perspective on asking for financial support changed. It was no longer about me but about what God can do through support raising, both for me and my donors. This trip will not be easy; I will be leaving most of the comforts of home behind and stepping into the unknown. I have committed to sharing about my journey and the people I meet through this blog.
At this point I know the 11 countries that I should be traveling to but even that can change, I know I will have opportunities to experience the amazing things the world has to offer but that is not my purpose. My purpose is to bring Christ to a suffering world, to demonstrate his love to his children, who are all made in his image.
I’m still struggling but I’ve realized that by asking for support, I am asking you to come along side me in this journey. If you choose to donate you are investing not only in me but in the work that I am doing in the field.
