I want to remember,
I want to remember everything!
I feel lost without something to take notes on,
My words often don't do justice to my experiences.
Some days are just good days.
Today I didn't have a divine revaluation,
I didn't have a crazy encounter with the lord.
But the lord pursued me and I felt alive. He pursed me and I felt recharged.
He pursued me with a really great day.
Here is the recap of my first hours in Nepal.
The atmosphere on the plane turned to excitement as everyone’s eyes shifted to the windows.
Our plane began to descend and an oasis of mountains were stretched out below the clouds.
Hello Himalayan mountain range.
A little Nepalese man was asked to sit down as he stood and strained to see out a window.
His eye lit up and his body relaxed.
This man warmed my heart as he had been enveloped in the sea of racers at the Delhi airport. We adopted him as our own and helped to guide him through the airport.
Our exchanges were limited to a pat on his back, a hand on the moving sidewalk, smiles, and a verbal exchange that went like this, "Katmandu (pointing up)" and me saying "yes, Katmandu"
You could see the joy that my friend felt as he was home.
I felt the cold mountain air before I hit the tarmac
We descended the stairs and seemed to be in a valley.
Excitement and joy radiated through the squad. It was as if we were receiving a breath of fresh air.
23 of us piled into a van that’s roof was stacked with packs.
Three teams together, my first month living and working with other teams.
I am elated!
My prayer is for us to become like the three-braided rope in Ecclesiastes, 3 teams become 1, united in Christ, our bonds not easily broken. 3/8 of the squad united, passion filling us, spurring each other on in faith and growing amongst the chaos.
We arrived at our home base for the night only to be greeted by 19 H-squanders who were preparing for their month 8.
In addition to these 19, their free pile awaited us.
I am so thankful for the jeans and the hoodie I pulled from the pile.
We blended together parts of H and parts of K being one family, being one body, asking questions, hearing stories, sharing dinner and space. Pressing in as has become our norm.
I was overjoyed to find a compadre from the Cape, let's hear it for the northeast.
Several hours past like this and we started to trail "home" for bed.
We filled rooms, us on top bunks, them on bottoms
Talking and laughing.
The laughing faded and sleep invaded.
This was a good day.
