Here’s a glimpse at what God was teaching me in the breathtaking country of Swaziland:

God has an abundant amount of facets to Himself, like

compassionate,

just,

patient,

faithful

forgiving

and clearly many many more.

All those characteristics work together so sweetly and purely to create this intricate being that He is.

He made us in that image, this complicated and transparent reflection of Him. But most of us don’t recognize all these parts of ourselves, we just identify with the few comfortable and known pieces

or maybe that’s just me

On top of a peaceful mountain, God spoke to me that I was only operating in a few of my characteristics He made me with.

Each day He showed me something new about myself He created me with and why. It was a beautiful and challenging month. He began to speak to me aspects about Him that I haven’t realized before and how those qualities are echoed in me.

One of the things He showed me was that I hide behind my humor and use it as a defense mechanism to keep people at arms length, to stay somewhat in control.

But God loves us way too much to let us stay the same. All I had to do was ask, and He opened my eyes to the bigger picture of myself.

He strategically placed me around specific people, teammates to call greatness out of me. To perceive me on a deeper level and not settled for anything less.

But that’s the beauty of community, isn’t it?

To be given grace and patience as I figure out how to have confidence in a more serious, opinionated side. To know what I can bring to the table of life. To act in high character.

I challenge you and myself to be bold and find those distinct God given characteristics that we were made to perform in.
