So let me tell you what Team Gladiators has been up to this month. Like I mentioned in a recent post, we are doing Unsung Heroes this month. Unsung Heroes is a program within the World Race to find new ministry contacts, people who are doing kingdom work and who would benefit from a partnership with us. We started the month in Siem Reap, where our squad wrapped up debrief. We took some time to listen to God for direction, literally. We had no travel plans until God said so. He led us Southeast to Kampong Thom, then to Kampong Cham (a beautiful town on the Mekong River that we loved), and we are ending the month in Phnom Penh. We have had the chance e to meet a lot of people and hear awesome stories about what God is doing here in Cambodia. I might be a little in love with this country.
One day in Kampong Chan we met a Christian tuktuk driver named Gideon. He drove us around the city to visit a few different ministries he knew about. It was an adventure. We visited an orphanage on the river with a really cool swinging bridge and an area to raise chickens, geese, and other livestock. The orphanage is a part of the Helping Hands Foundation. It’s a Christian organization seeking to alleviate poverty, train church leaders, and share the love of Christ in Cambodia. Along with running the orphanage in Kampong Cham, they operate the Jesus School in Phnom Penh. It is in the slums and attended by the children who live in the slums. On Sundays they host a worship service at the school which is attended by a few families from the slum. In addition, Helping Hands does church planting in rural areas all over Cambodia and provides leadership training to church members.
This week G squad flies to Africa! We will be spending the month of November in Swaziland. I never thought I’d get used to Asia but in a lot of ways I have. It will be interesting to be on a different continent and I’m ready for a fresh start! I still need $3846 to be fully funded, as well as personal money to cover personal items, fun activities with my squad, and (eventually) my flight home. Please pray that fundraising will not be a source of stress for me and pray for the funds to come in. If you are able to donate please do.
Thank you! LeAnn
