It’s all-squad month and we are in India! We’re working under India Christian Ministries. They have a few different programs and each of G squad’s 7 teams are working with a different one. Team Gladiators is doing Covenant Children’s Development Centers, a tutoring program held at churches in rural villages. Each day this month we are going to a different village to do prayer ministry in the homes of the villagers and a special program for the children in CCDC. We teach a bible lesson, hygiene, manners, music, cultural studies, and games. It’s a lot of fun.

Prayer ministry can be challenging at times because we are almost always asked to pray for the same five things: family, finances, faith development, health, and education. Some days I feel as if I’ve prayed the same prayer over 30 different people. It was hard for me at first because I felt like I had no time to establish a connection with the people I’m ministering to. One thing I expected coming into this month was to have a more consistent ministry than last month. And we do have consistent ministry, just with a new group of people each day. It can be hard for our hearts to say hello and goodbye to the beautiful children we meet daily.

Coming into this month, my prayer was “God give me your eyes for India.” And he has. i am finding that when I’m connected with his spirit, moment by moment, he helps me to connect with others. When we are being introduced to the people we are about to pray over I look at their faces and I look into their eyes. I have seen so much there. Wisdom, joy, pain, loneliness, trust, faith, the desire to be known. In that moment I am connected with that person because I am connected with God. He is allowing me to see them as he does.

If I were a photographer this is the point in my blog where I would insert a few pictures. Close ups of Indian faces with their eyes looking right at you. So you could see what I see here. But I’m not a photographer. So I ask you to start looking into the eyes of those around you and asking God what he sees there. Listen to him inside of you, teaching you how he sees others, and teaching you how he sees you.

My prayer for the rest of this month, the rest of the race, and the rest of my life is to keep seeing with God’s eyes and learning to love with his heart.
