This poem is something special. At the end of January, I got to participate in an Awakening, a 3-4 day long gathering between four squads currently out on the field. I made great friends, had life changing conversation and lots of laughs. We listened to speakers, ministered to one another and ate tacos as a family. Truly a blessing.
Anyway, I was asked to help with a session focused on evangelism and immediately, the Lord asked me to write a poem based off the blog, What Would You Do If You Knew You Couldn’t Fail. I responded with dragging my feet. “It won’t be that good. I won’t get it done in time. I don’t feel inspired.” My excuses went on.
The morning of, I still didn’t have it written and had basically thrown out the idea as a whole. My alarm went off and I made the conscious decision to go back to bed but then, Jesus literally sent a mosquito to my ear (the first and only time this has happened to me on the Race and I was sleeping in a hotel room!). BZZZZZZZZ. I swatted it away, a bit peeved and went back to sleep. I am not kidding, just as I fell back asleep…BZZZZZZZZZZZ! The little bugger came back with a vengeance. It might as well have been Jesus saying, “So, uhhh…are you gonna write down that poem I wanted?”
Begrudgingly, I got up. I didn’t even brush my teeth or put on proper clothes. I sat outside our room in my PJs and God gave me every word. Needless to say…I didn’t write this poem – He did.
I pray it speaks to your spirit. Encourages you in just the right way and that you feel Holy Spirit stirring inside you to speak His Truth.
