In officially 3 weeks= 21 days, I will be back on US. soil. It feels like just yesterday when I left for India. But that was 291 days ago. It’s crazy to think I’ve been away from home, away from my family, and away from the comforts of America for that long. It’s now the point in the race where we think about what we will do when we get back home, try to process the idea of going back home and figuring out what our community will look like when we return. It’s a very daunting thought. But I’m relying on and trusting God to show me what his plan for my life will be and how he will use me to be a light in the US.
God has given us an amazing place to stay for our last month on the field. It’s a place where we will get spiritually poured into as well as being able to pour into others. The ministry we’re working with is called Love Story. (http://www.lovestory.org.za/) We’ve only been here not even a week and have already formed relationships with the staff, spread love around Port Elizabeth (PE) and have grown closer to God. This will be a refreshing last month to rest in Him, dig deep and really take time to process the race, process going home, process my future and what God has in store for me. One of the coolest things we’ve gotten to do is what they call city feed. Some of the staff at love story every night go out into downtown PE and feed roughly 120-150 homeless people. Rain or shine, they go and serve. For some people, it’s their only meal of the day and it’s so amazing to know that no matter what goes on for them, they know they can always count on a hot meal every night. It was inspiring to see all the smiles on all of the faces we served. They were truly thankful for what they were receiving and this is just one ministry Love story does. There are so many other places and things they do to help the city of PE. It is a privilege being able to work along side them this month.
Thank you all so much for your prayers and support! Please keep my team and I in your prayers as we finish out the race strong!
Also, I will have very limited funds available in my savings when I get back and because we are flying into NYC and since I will be there for a week, I will need to buy some warm clothes so if you would like to donate to my account so that I can stay warm, I would love you forever! You can donate on Venmo or paypal (paypal.me/leahschult)
(Sometimes ministry looks like holding a sleeping 2 month old baby!)
