The Lord is so present in Honduras- He is taking care of His people here, and all around us people are putting their hope and faith in Him. Today is the last day of 2017, and marks 6 days until we depart from Valle De Angeles. We’ve been able to see God in new ways— through the people at the orphanage, the sights and His creations, our hosts and their wisdom, people we‘ve met in town and at church. He’s given us opportunities to share His love and be loved by Him through others here. He’s equipped us to reach out in this community for the last two months, and now we get to move on to what He has prepared in Guatemala. But this new year, this departure & upcoming ministry doesn’t mean He is leaving with us. He’s gone before us and has gone before these people. As seasons change and time passes, our perspective and life as we know it evolves and shifts, but our God does not.
Numbers 23:19 (NIV)
19 God is not human, that he should lie,
not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act?
Does he promise and not fulfill?
In Deuteronomy God promises faithfulness, a covenant of love to thousands of generations. He made a covenant to Abraham — promising offspring as numerous as the stars. A covenant with Moses — providing for the Israelites if they obeyed. His promise to send the Messiah for the atonement of OUR sins. The Lord has made an IMMENSE amount of promises to people who once lived and to us, and not once have they been neglected. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 says that God is faithful and will strengthen and protect us. Because He has fulfilled His promises to the generatons before us, sent His son to destroy sin and shame, we can be confident in Him and His promise to go before us and strengthen us in all that we walk through. Knowing this, we can leave this country trusting fully that we were a part of His plan here, and He will use other people and events to build kingdom. This goes for Gap K, and for the rest of the people on this earth. Whether it’s a new job, relationships, different ministry, even a loss — we KNOW that His faithfulness prevails, and He will walk with each of us, providing whatever it is that’s needed. He is so, so, good. So THANK YOU Jesus for the promise that changed everything, and thank you God for all that you are — today specifically, for being constant and faithful.
